The KPz-70 never had the 120mm, and was never planned to have it from what I can tell.
It is this tank that first had the 120mm smoothbore that would be later found in the Leopard 2. If you read that article more closely without jumping the gun, you'll notice that they explicitly reference the Keiler as having the 120mm, which is this thing:Īccording to Krapke, the Keiler is a parallel project to the KPz-70 and has no composite nor spaced armor to really speak of. The article in no way references the KPz-70 as using the 120mm smoothbore.
